My name is Madilyn McClain, and I’m an artist and creative professional based in the vibrant city of St. Louis, Missouri. Since 1998, I’ve been on a mission to tell captivating stories through my art, blending portraiture with abstract elements that capture the richness of the human experience.

I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Truman State University, where I majored in Studio Art and minored in Graphic Design. Since graduating in 2021, I’ve expanded my artistic practice as a Resident Artist at Artisans in the Loop and as a graphic designer at Breakthru Beverage. In both roles, I create visually impactful pieces—whether it’s through branding and design for clients or the heartfelt portraits I paint in my studio.

My artwork primarily focuses on realistic portraits infused with abstract backgrounds, with a particular interest in storytelling. I love using oil and acrylic paints to explore how people’s inner worlds are reflected in their expressions and surroundings. Every commission and personal project is an opportunity to highlight the intimate connections between individuals and the environments they interact with.

Beyond painting, I’ve been a musician for over a decade, playing bass in my alt rock/pop punk band, Dead Space Derby. Music is an integral part of my life, influencing how I approach all forms of creativity.

My work has been featured in juried exhibitions, group shows, and prestigious venues such as the Albrecht-Kemper Museum and the Missouri Museum of Natural History, as well as in the annual publication Windfall.
